What the platform is

Sexpretchat is a Dutch-language adult chat room with webcams, run as a free community and not as a performer marketplace. The site calls itself "de leukste sexchat van Nederland" (the most fun sex chat in the Netherlands) and says the name comes from the fun side of the chat, since "pret" is Dutch for fun. Its own pitch is that "alles gratis is" (everything is free). The site says it is for Dutch-speaking people only, and the minimum age is 18.

What you get and how the money works

The homepage describes a chat with text, audio and video, plus a free dating layer. The line the site uses for the combination is "Sexdaten en sex chatten gecombineerd op één site waar je helemaal niets voor betaald" (sex dating and sex chat combined on one site where you pay nothing at all). Entry is quick: the page ends by saying a visitor only has to invent a name and press enter or click the red enter button. A webcam is optional. The site says plainly that nobody has to be undressed and that switching a camera on is not required.

The site describes who uses it in some detail. It is a mix of people, only Dutch speakers, which the site spells out as Dutch people and Belgians who speak Dutch, young and old, with an 18-year minimum. Men and women both take part, though "de mannen vaak nog wel in de meerderheid" (the men are often still in the majority), as on dating sites generally. Many couples looking for erotic contact with singles or other couples are mentioned too, and the site says heterosexual, gay and bisexual men and women are all present. That covers the couples angle and the mixed roster as the site itself frames it.

It then sorts its users into types, in sections of its own. Naturists and nudists use the chat because, in autumn and winter, it is one of the few places to be public about a nude lifestyle. Exhibitionists choose to show themselves to others on camera. Voyeurs watch without showing themselves, and some do not even switch their own camera on. The site adds that being both at once is common. A further section covers people who go further on camera, and another covers people who have webcam sex with one or more partners, which the site says usually happens in a separate room. The functions are listed one by one. Text chat comes first. Audio chat uses the microphone of a phone or laptop, and on a desktop the microphone sits in the separate webcam. Video chat is the third mode. The site says the chat no longer relies on Flash, so it runs on a laptop, tablet or phone, and it names iPhone, iPad and Android devices specifically.

Privacy comes in steps. The first step is a whisper, which the site equates with a private message: other chatters cannot see it, but the sender still sees the rest of the room's messages. This is how the chat and dating sides join up: someone met on camera has a lasting profile page, and a profile owner is visible in the room.

The figures from the pages

There are no figures to quote on cost, because the site's position is that cost is zero. The pages publish no token packages, no per-minute rate, no membership tiers, no free-credit offer and no payment method. The two statements that carry the whole money story are these:

Who it suits and who it does not

Sexpretchat suits a Dutch-speaking adult who wants to chat and cam at no cost, on any device, without registering a long profile first. It fits people who like the voyeur and exhibitionist side of cam chat more than a one-on-one performer show, couples and swingers who want a private, password-protected room, and anyone who wants a free dating profile attached to the chat.

It does not suit a visitor who wants professional performers on a schedule, paid private shows or tipping. The site describes none of that, and it names no performers. It also does not suit anyone outside the Dutch-language market, since the site restricts itself to Dutch speakers. The site's own text is very open about nudity and sexual activity on camera, and the male-heavy mix it admits to is worth knowing about.
