What Famu is
Famu (ファム) is a Japanese smartphone-only video chat service built around one-to-one calls with women the site describes as married women (人妻), mature women (熟女) and pregnant women, registered from all over the country. It is not a broadcast site with public rooms. A member finds a woman, sends her a message, and takes the conversation to a voice or video call, paid by the minute from prepaid points. Signup is free, and the site hands out free points after registration. Famu says it has served its customers for more than 10 years. Its pages are in Japanese, and the site can only be reached on a smartphone, through a QR code on the desktop page.
What you get and how the money works
The site's own description is the clearest summary of the product. Famu says it lets members enjoy video calls, voice calls and chats with married women, mature women and pregnant women who register from across the country, and that the women are mainly in their late twenties to forties, with some mothers in their early twenties also registered. Elsewhere it adds young wives (若妻) to that list. The pitch names 3 kinds of customer: people who want to be soothed, people who want to get worked up over sexy talk, and people who want an erotic video call with an older woman.
The play guide has three steps. First, the site says the women stand by 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so a member can look for one during a work break or a spare moment. Second, when he finds a woman he likes, he sends a message inviting her to a video call; the guide even suggests lines to send. Third, the call itself runs through a calling app rather than in a browser. The site frames the video call as a session in which both people see each other's faces, and says a woman may grant an erotic request.
The roster is shown as a list of women online now. Each entry gives an occupation, a prefecture and an age, with a can-talk-now label (今すぐ話せる) on those who are free. The occupations on the list run from office worker, clerk and housewife to young wife, nurse, childcare worker, apparel worker and hostess, and the prefectures run from Hokkaido to Okinawa. The landing page blurs the profile photos to keep the women from being identified, and says there is no blur once inside the site. A member can follow a woman he likes. Besides calls and chat, the site has a video bulletin board (動画掲示板) where women post clips, and members can write blog posts for free.
That makes Famu a fit for two of this directory's categories in its own terms. It is a one-to-one chat service: every paid action is a private call or a message between one member and one woman, with no group room or public stream. And it is a mature-cam site: the roster is built on married and older women, mostly in their late twenties to forties by the site's own description.
The site sets firm rules on both sides. A woman who can send messages or take calls has passed an identity check against a public ID document. A watch runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for bad actors, which the site lists as users who lead people to outside services such as LINE, scammers, paid fake chatters (サクラ) and anyone hinting at a real-life meeting. Members' phone numbers and email addresses are kept private, and the site says no personal information is ever made public. Meeting in person and exchanging personal details are banned: the FAQ says Famu is a live chat service for communicating online. The product is the call, and the site draws a hard line around it.
The figures from the pages
Everything is priced in points, and the price table states 1 yen = 0.75 points. Famu is a prepaid point system, and data charges are the customer's own.
- Voice call: 200 points a minute.
- Video call: 250 points a minute.
- A text-only message is free to receive and costs 80 points to send.
- A message with a photo attached costs 50 points to receive and 100 points to send.
- A message with a video attached costs 100 points to receive and 150 points to send.
- Viewing a profile and posting a blog entry are free.
The site does not publish its point packages, so the yen side of the price comes only from that exchange rate.
The FAQ answers the worry about large bills directly. Famu is fully prepaid: even in the middle of a call, the line is cut the moment the points run out, and the site says it will never bill a usage fee afterward. The notice under the fund settlement law (資金決済法に基づく表記) says purchased points are valid for 6 months counting the purchase day, that points can be forfeited if the account is suspended under the terms, and that points lapse when a member leaves the service. Refunds are not given except where that law allows them. There is no upper limit on how much a member can buy, and the balance is shown at the top right of the my-page screen.
Registration is free, the site gives free points after signup, and the FAQ says a member can play without paying at all; the number of free points is not stated. The site claims that more than 1,300 women wait for a video call every day and that more than 130,000 women have registered (13万人以上). Both are the site's own figures.
On payment, a section headed 豊富な決済方法 (a wide range of payment methods) says various methods are available and that the site's name does not appear on the billing statement.
The operator named in that notice is 株式会社リアズ, with an address in Yodogawa ward, Osaka. The footer carries 3 registrations: 第45091号 for video transmission adult entertainment, 第45090号 for non-store telephone introduction, and 第44539号 for non-store adult entertainment. The footer also links to a complaints policy, a notice under the specified commercial transactions law, a page about points, a contact form and a media coverage page.
Who it suits and who it does not
Famu suits a Japanese-speaking man who wants a private, one-to-one call with an older or married woman and would rather talk than watch a show. The money is easy to follow: a per-minute rate is printed for both call types, every message has a stated price, nothing is billed after the call, and a member can start on free points. The ID check for women and the round-the-clock watch for scammers and fake chatters count in its favor for anyone worried about who is on the other end. For discretion, the site says its name does not appear on the billing statement.
It is a weaker fit in several ways. It is smartphone only, so a viewer who wants to use a desktop browser has no way in. There are no group rooms or public streams, so a member cannot watch a woman before paying, apart from her profile and the bulletin board clips. Points expire after 6 months, which penalizes a member who tops up and drifts away, and a withdrawn account loses its balance. Sending messages costs points too, so a long exchange before a call adds up at 80 points a text.
